Good morning RMS faculty, staff and students.  This coming Monday, May 27, is Memorial Day, a federal holiday.  Memorial Day originated in 1868, when Union General John Alexander Logan designated a day in which the graves of Civil War soldiers would be decorated.  Known originally as Decoration Day, the name of the holiday was changed 20 years later to Memorial Day, becoming a holiday dedicated to the memory of all military war dead.  It became a federal holiday in 1971, and Memorial Day is now observed on the last Monday in May.  As you enjoy this upcoming Memorial Day weekend, please remember what this holiday is truly all about, and kindly take time to appreciate the sacrifices of the many servicemen and servicewomen who have courageously served our country.

Any 7th grader interested in doing the school morning announcements next year as an 8th grader should email their interest to Mr. Stretar and receive audition/try out information.  Thank you!
