The Spartan Army stood at the center of the Spartan state,

whose citizens were trained in the discipline and honor of the warrior

society. The term "Spartan" became synonymous with fearlessness,

discipline, honor, endurance. "SATURDAY YOU WILL RUN LIKE SPARTANS!"

    WELCOME TO RMS CROSS-COUNTRY 2018

We would like to welcome all of you to the Revere Middle School Cross-Country team, especially those who are competing in the sport for the first time.  We look forward to working with all of you to help you achieve your own personal athletic goals.  I hope to make this cross-country season successful, rewarding and FUN! (Great Train Run, Giant Slip n’ Slide). The boys team is the reigning Suburban League Champion. They were undefeated in league meets, won invitationals, and finished second at the Ohio State Cross-Country Championships.

Cross-country is a sport where EVERYONE participates.  Everyone runs the same two-mile course  (don’t worry, you can do it!) and we score based on our top five runners.  But it takes the ENTIRE team to make us a success!  It doesn’t matter if you are a runner who finishes first or last, everyone is important on this team.  Bring out a friend to the team.

Once school begins we will take a bus to BCC after school just as we did last season.  Practice after school ends at 4:30 p.m. Parents pick up their athletes promptly at 4:30 at BCC.

    Practice and Race Sites:

Practices are held at the Bath Community Center and the Richfield Heritage Preserve (Camp Hilaka)

They are excellent training sites with wooded trails to run and lots of hills.

    August 6-10              Bath Community Center              10:00 - 11:30

    August 13-15            Richfield Heritage Preserve

     (Camp Hilaka) 4374 Broadview Rd,

    Weather:

Cross-country is run in all weather (We love mud!).  However, if there is lightning and we are at Bath Community Center, please pick your child up at the pavilion.  If the weather is threatening CHECK THE RMS CC WEBSITE to see if practice is cancelled.

I will also put out a message on REMIND.

    Equipment:

You will need a new pair of “running” shoes for the season.  Be sure to tell the person at the shoe store the sport you are going to be running in them.  You do not need to have a pair of “spikes”, but if you do you will need a pair of regular running shoes for practice. Second Sole in Merriman Valley will give us a deal on running shoes. It is also recommended that you have a good quality sport watch to time yourself on your runs and during your races.   BRING A WATER BOTTLE TO PRACTICE.

    Meet Schedule:

Our competition begins in late August.  We will be participating in meets against other Suburban League schools on Tuesdays and at invitationals on Saturdays.  EVERY team member will be able to participate in every meet, including the invitationals with the exception of The Legends race which is for a team of our top 7 runners.  We are finalizing the schedule, but you will be running 5 regular meets and 4 invitationals.

    Cross-Country Booster:

There is a $30.00 booster fee for the season.  This supplies all athletes with a custom T-shirt, water bottle, Gatorade and snacks after each meet, and a post-season pizza party. Make check payable to “Marie Meixner” our Team Mom.

    Uniforms and Sweats:

These are supplied by the school and will be issued prior to the first meet.

The time and hard work you put in this summer will pay off during the season.

This will be an exciting and fun year and we look forward to running with all of you!

    WELCOME TO RMS CROSS-COUNTRY 2017

We would like to welcome all of you to the Revere Middle School Cross-Country team, especially those who are competing in the sport for the first time. We look forward to working with all of you to help you achieve your own personal athletic goals. I hope to make this cross-country season successful, rewarding and FUN! (Great Train Run, Giant Slip n’ Slide). The boys team is the reigning Suburban League Champion. They were undefeated in league meets, won 2 invitationals, and finished second at the Ohio State Cross-Country Championships.

Parents are welcome to join us for a run or walk as well and enjoy some of the beautiful trails the Cuyahoga Valley has to offer.

We are coming off a very successful season. The team got there by training over the summer and coming into “camp” READY TO RUN. I expect those who want to be a part of this years winning team to run over the summer.

Advanced      15 - 30 min per day              5-6 days per week

Vary your runs (long, short, hills, flat, fast, slow) I strongly recommend taking advantage of the abundance of hiking trails in the area.

***EMAIL ME WEEKLY WITH THE MILES or MINUTES YOU HAVE RUN EACH WEEK DURING THE SUMMER

    Weather:

Cross-country is run in all weather (We love mud!). However, if there is lightning and we are at Bath Community Center, please pick your child up at the pavilion. If the weather is threatening CHECK THE RMS CC WEBSITE to see if practice is cancelled.

    Uniforms and Sweats:

These are supplied by the school and will be issued prior to the first meet.

    WELCOME TO RMS CROSS-COUNTRY 2016

We would like to welcome all of you to the Revere Middle School Cross-Country team, especially those who are competing in the sport for the first time.  We look forward to working with all of you to help you achieve your own personal athletic goals.  I hope to make this cross-country season successful, rewarding and FUN! (Great Train Run, Giant Slip n’ Slide)

    Uniforms and Sweats:

These are supplied by the school and will be issued prior to the first meet.

The time and hard work you put in this summer will pay off during the season.

This will be an exciting and fun year and we look forward to running with all of you!

So...we will be going to the Woodridge Invitational on Sat Oct 3 and the SL Championship on Sat Oct 10. We will NOT be going to The Legends Meet which is one of the kids favorite experiences!!!

(sorry, venting again) Same dates for meets, but different locations.

A REVISED SCHEDULE will be coming out (halfway through the season?! I know, right?!)

    Monday, August 3

Great first day of practice! 65 team members...so far.

     Team Fee:

We have decided to up the team fee to $30.00 this year.

I was reminded that we ran short on money for snacks/Gatorade last year, so to avoid going back for more money again we have upped the team fee a little.

Make checks for the team fee to "Kay McIntyre"

     Team Web Page:

For up to date information on the team go to our web page.

Go to the Revere Middle School web page,

then go to "Parents and Students" tab for a drop down box.

    click on "Middle School Cross-Country"

    Thunderstorms:

I will post on the above web page (Middle School Cross Country) if practice is cancelled due to bad weather. I usually make that decision that morning.

    Monday, August 3
The weather looks a little sketchy for Monday, but since it's our first practice we need to touch base.
We'll play it by ear weather we actually practice or not depending on the chance of thunderstorms.

SORRY BUT DUE TO UNFORSEEN CIRCUMSTANCES WE WILL NOT BE HAVING ANY FUN RUNS THIS SUMMER : (

     WELCOME TO RMS CROSS-COUNTRY 2015

We would like to welcome all of you to the Revere Middle School Cross-Country team, especially those who are competing in the sport for the first time.  We look forward to working with all of you to help you achieve your own personal athletic goals.  I hope to make this cross-country season successful, rewarding and FUN!

     CROSS-COUNTRY INFORMATION:

Go to the Revere Web Site, Enter "RMS CC" in the SEARCH BOX,   click on “Middle School CC Information”

    PHYSICAL:

In order to participate in any sport at RMS, you MUST have an Athletic Participation/Physical Exam Form on file in the assistant principal’s office. All forms are available on the Revere web site.   Physicals are good for one year from the date of your doctor’s signature.  You must have this form turned into the school office or a coach before you can participate in a practice or meet.

    ATHLETIC FORMS:
All forms can now be completed on-line< with the exception of the Physical Form. Go to Revere Athletics on the school web site click forms and complete them on-line

          Practice and Race Sites:

Practices are held at the Bath Community Center.  It is an excellent training site with wooded trails to run and lots of hills (I’m most excited about that last one!).  Our course is one of the toughest in the area and training on it makes you tougher!

Mandatory practice officially begins on Monday, August 3

Practices prior to the start of school will be held Monday - Friday from 8:30 - 10:00 a.m. at Bath Community Center (BCC) on Cleveland-Massillon Road.  PARENTS PLEASE PICK UP YOUR ATHLETE PROMPTLY AT 10:00 SO THE COACHES MAY GO HOME.

Once school begins we will take a bus to BCC after school just as we did last season. Practice after school ends at 4:30 p.m. Parents pick up their athletes promptly at 4:30 at BCC.

    Weather:

Cross-country is run in all weather (We love mud!).  However, if there is lightning and we are at Bath Community Center, please pick your child up at the pavilion.  If the weather is threatening check this web site that morning to see if practice has been cancelled.

    Equipment:

You will need a new pair of “running” shoes for the season.  Be sure to tell the person at the shoe store the sport you are going to be running in them.  You do not need to have a pair of “spikes”, but if you do you will need a pair of regular running shoes for practice.  I have a coupon from Second Sole running store in Merriman Valley. They are offering a great deal on shoes.

EVERY team member will be able to participate in every meet, including the invitationals. We are finalizing the schedule, but you will be running 5 regular meets and 5 invitationals.

    Cross-Country Booster:

There is a $25.00 booster fee for the season.  This supplies all athletes with a custom T-shirt, Gatorade and snacks after each meet, and a post-season pizza party.

    Uniforms and Sweats:

These are supplied by the school and will be issued prior to the first meet.

The time and hard work you put in this summer will pay off during the season.

This will be an exciting and fun year and we look forward to running with all of you!

Are there any parents who are available Monday and Wednesday from 2:45-3:05 to take 4-5 kids to BCC?

We only need 3-4 parents to drive to eliminate the overcrowding on the bus.

The kids you transport must be ones that you know and you must have their parents written permission.

Please e-mail me ASAP if you can help.
