Tentative Math Contest Dates 2020-2021

    *** Note: Due to the COVID-19, the math contest times may be different from last year and/or from what is listed below.  Sign up to receive accurate/current info from the advisor, Mrs. Gillette.  Her email is jgillette@revereschools.org.  The dates and times may change due to administration's requests, students' availibility, advisor's availibility, a surge/reduction in the virus, etc.  Some contests might be on the Zoom app.

    Ohio Math League    10/13, 11/10, 12/8, 1/5, 2/9, 3/16.  30 minutes each

     AMC    2/4,  2/10     75 minutes each

     OCTM   8am – 9:30 am Saturday Feb. ?

     ASMA   11/12, 12/10, 1/14, 2/11, 3/11, 4/8.   30 minutes each  

     Math Madness   probably on Tuesdays beginning around 9/22.  We'll play until we get knocked out of the playoffs.   30 minutes each

             Ohio Math League is a series of six 30-minute math contests.  The contests are held on Tuesdays in the RHS cafeteria from 2:45-3:15 pm.  Students do not have to attend all of the contests.  Athletes should ask their coaches if they can be a little late to practice.
    ASMA is a series of six 35-minute math contests.  The contests are held on Thursdays from 2:45-3:20 pm.   Students do not have to attend all of the contests. Athletes should ask their coach if they can be late to practice.
    Math Madness is a series of online math contests each containing about 8 questions to be completed in 30 minutes.  We will continue until Revere has been knocked out of the playoffs.  There are some team and some individual contests.
    The AMC 10A and 12A will be held on 2/4.  This is a 75-minute contest where students may not use a calculator.  The AMC 10B and 12B will be held after school 2/10.  Most interested students will take the contest on 2/4.  Only a limited number of copies of the 10B and 12B will be available for students who were not available on 2/4 or or for students who wish to take both versions.  High scorers might qualify for the AIME on 3/10. 
    OCTM contest was created by math teachers and will be given one Saturday in February from 8-9:30 AM at Copley High School.  High scorers might qualify for the OHMIO contest in March.
    Students must attend at least 5 math contests in the 2020-2021 school year in order to write “Ohio Math League” on their college, scholarship, and NHS applications. Students who attend many math contests and have a high math GPA may be eligible for the Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Honor Society in the spring. Students should see Mrs. Gillette in room A221 with any questions.
    Previous Ohio Math League contests are online.  You can practice these on your iPad/computer.  Log in to http://online.mathleague.com with the email ID and password that Mrs. Gillette has given to you.  Click on “Repository of Questions”, “Contests”, and whichever contest you would like to try.  The site may offer solving tips after you have tried the problems.  Please see or email Mrs. Gillette if you would like to receive a login ID.
