Morning Announcement Cross-Country 9/28/22
The cross-country ran hard yesterday but came up short against
North Royalton and wadsworth. The girls started the show by taking 1st
and 2nd overall. Kaitlyn Newey was first in 13:58 for the 2 mile course. She
was followed 2 seconds later by Larkin Carroll. The next 3 Revere runners
were Sierra, Ali, and Jane. They were good enough to cage the Bears
45-16. Unfortunately, the Grizzly Bears beat the girls 28-19. Lots of
fantastic runs by the rest of the girls’ team. Ella Slaby, Lila Papay, Isabelle
Owens, Kristen Crane, Nora Burke, and Naina Bhalla.
The boys team ran into a pack of Grizzlies and were dropped 36-19
and by the Bears 35-23 in two hotly contested races. Ben Mellion again led
our boys followed by Caden, Will, Deven, and Jonah. Dom Pirollo, Matteo
Brienza, Leon Du, and Sharan Balaji ran great!

StacheStrong 5k
Our fundraiser this season is for StacheStrong, which raises money to support brain cancer research. Revere grad Molly Oldham has been fighting brain cancer and her amazing story led me to contact an organization called StacheStrong to see how we could help. As it turns out they are hosting 5k and Virtual 5k race on September 17, which is a day that the HS and MS teams have a race.
All you have to do to help this cause is sign up for the race (see link below). Sign up and JOIN our team "Revere Cross-Country" so we get credit for the donation. Your time in our race will count as your Virtual Race. (we'll be adding 1.1mi to it though for the MS). Sign up by September 3 to guarantee a race shirt
Anyone in your family can also do the race that weekend, but on their own course.
Participation is optional, but please consider participating to help fund brain cancer research.

Use RMS CC 2022
Equipment:
You will need a new pair of “running” shoes for the season. Be sure to tell the person at the shoe store the sport you are going to be running in them. You do not need to have a pair of “spikes”, but if you do you will need a pair of regular running shoes for practice. Ritchies Sporting Goods in Tallmadge will give us a deal on running shoes. It is also recommended that you have a good quality sport watch to time yourself on your runs and during your races.
BRING A WATER BOTTLE TO PRACTICE.
Transportation Form
In the event that a parent/guardian needs to take their athlete from an away event, and they rode the bus to the event, they will need to complete the Google Spreadsheet before they leave with the athlete. This is the same form that's been used in the past. Here is the link:Cross-Country Team Fee:
There is a $30.00 Team Fee for the season. This supplies all athletes with a custom T-shirt, water bottle, Gatorade and snacks after each meet, and a post-season pizza party.
Team Fee ($30) needs to be paid to our new Team Mom, Betsy Riley.
People can pay by check made out to Betsy Riley and given directy to her at practice
Or by Venmo: betsy-riley-6 and in the comments please put RMS CC with the name of the runner.
"We need more cowbell!" A tradition we have at RMS CC is our parents cheering our runners on with cowbells. Local craft stores usually have them (or local cows)
Coaches' Comment: "The harder you work now NOW pays off big time, LATER in the season!"

WELCOME TO RMS CROSS-COUNTRY 2022
We would like to welcome all of you to the Revere Middle School Cross-Country team, especially those who are competing in the sport for the first time. We look forward to working with all of you to help you achieve your own personal athletic goals. I hope to make this cross-country season successful, rewarding and FUN! (Great Train Run, Giant Slip n’ Slide). We just hope everything this season gets back to “normal”. Regular all-team practices, full schedule of meets, and the fun things we do.
Cross-country is a sport where EVERYONE participates. Everyone runs the same two-mile course (don’t worry, you can do it!) and we score based on our top five runners. But it takes the ENTIRE team to make us a success! It doesn’t matter if you are a runner who finishes first or last, everyone is important on this team. Bring out a friend to the team.
